Our History
The History of Castlet
Founded in 1974, Castlet has been providing engineering solutions for partners around the world for over 50 years from our headquarters in Lincoln, England.
Initially, Castlet focused on power supply to enable electrostatic precipitator (ESP) control for coal fired power stations, cement plants and mineral plants.
Since then, we have expanded our services with the acquisition of multiple companies, operating in the MOD and aerospace and industrial markets.
Today, Castlet has a global reach and operates in six continents. In 2025, we became an employee-owned company to empower our people, strengthen our future and secure our legacy.

1974
Castlet is founded
Founded over 50 years ago, Castlet began its journey as Castlet (Electronic Engineers) Ltd., specialising in power supply solutions for ESP control in the industrial sector.
1983
Expansion to Asia & Africa
Castlet signed a manufacture under license agreement with Korea Cottrell Co Ltd in Seoul, South Korea. We also established Castlet South Africa (Pty) Ltd, in response to growing demand for new power stations in the country.

1984
Castlet Australia is formed
Castlet formed subsidiary company Castlet Australia (Pty) Ltd. Australia continues to be a strong market for industrial engineering solutions and we have partners based in Victoria, however the company was closed a decade ago.
1985
Expansion into the aerospace market
Castlet signed a manufacture under license agreement with Korea Cottrell Co Ltd in Seoul, South Korea. We also established Castlet South Africa (Pty) Ltd, in response to growing demand for new power stations in the country.

1989
Castlet wins the Queen’s Award
Castlet won the Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement and became approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to sell into commercial aviation industry.
1990
Relocation to Lincoln
The company relocated to a purpose-built site on Bishops Road Industrial Estate in Lincoln, England, where we are still based today.

1999
Castlet takes ownership of future
A viable part of the firm, bought four years prior by OMI International, was purchased from the administrators and renamed Castlet Ltd. Shares were sold to management and employees signalling a turning point in our history.
2008
Raft of award wins for Castlet
Castlet won the East Midlands International Business of the Year Award, followed by the Worldwide Exporter of the Year Award the year after. Castlet (India) Pty ltd was also formed, establishing our presence in the Indian subcontinent.

2009
Castlet becomes a Siemens Partner
Castlet joins the Siemens Partner Programme, enabling new opportunities to enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation, and access to specific automation solutions.
2011
Industry-leading MCSIII controller launched
Castlet launched its new microprocessor controller MCSIII, the latest technology for superior air and particulate control built on comprehensive design, prototyping, manufacturing and testing.

2013
Castlet Holdings Ltd is formed
Castlet’s management team bought out Castlet Ltd, signalling the formation of Castlet Holdings Ltd. and a new era for the firm.
2017
Innovative three-phase controller goes into production
A new three-phase controller for high-voltage direct current electric power transmission systems, designed and commissioned by Castlet, goes into production, driving forward innovative solutions for air pollution management in heavy industry.

2020
Castlet wins International Business award
Castlet wins International Business of the Year at the Lincolnshire Business Awards, demonstrating our global reach and impact, operated from our headquarters in Lincoln.
2025
Castlet strives for the future
Following the appointment of new Managing Director Tim Eagles in 2024, Castlet has entered a new era of growth. We became an employee-owned company, a move that empowers our people and strengthens our future and recently launched a new website to showcase our offering and secure our legacy.
