Supporting the Local Community: Donating Our Old Workwear to Charity
We recently donated our serviceable old workwear to local homelessness charity ‘Let Them Eat Cake’.
Following a company rebrand to drive forward growth and enhance our online presence earlier this year, we upgraded all of our team’s workwear.
Instead of the old workwear going to waste, we have donated over 200 new, unused and pre-worn garments including sweatshirts, t-shirts and jackets to homeless people in Lincoln, while reducing the environmental impact of discarded clothing.
Andrea Plumpton, our Team Leader who came up with the idea of donating the old workwear, meticulously ironed patches on top of the branding on each garment, so they could be given to charity.

Andrea said: “It felt wasteful to throw away perfectly good clothing, especially when so many people in our community are in need.
“Donating our workwear was a simple but meaningful way to support those experiencing homelessness in Lincoln, while also doing our bit for the environment. I’m proud that we were able to give these garments a second life where they’re truly needed, working with the amazing team at Let Them Eat Cake.”
Having built a relationship with the charity, Andrea will be volunteering with them once a month, serving food to homeless people on the streets of Lincoln at nighttime.
Let Them Eat Cake is a charity that helps people on the streets of Lincoln with hot food, hot and cold drinks, first aid, warm clothing, sleeping bags, support and compassion. It is run by a group of 24 local volunteers who are dedicated to supporting and reducing the everyday challenges of the city’s rough sleepers.
On receiving our donation, Marion Foster, Chairman of Let Them Eat Cake, added: “It was a fabulous idea from Andrea to donate the clothing, and it will make a real difference to our clients. It’s great that when they come in for a shower, we are now able to give them a whole set of clean clothes – something most of us take for granted.”
