Castlet marks one year of being an employee-owned company

Castlet celebrates one year of being an employee-owned company The business has embraced its new era with a renewed trust in its team Colleagues reflect on how this change has benefitted them
March 3, 2026

One year ago, we took an exciting step in our journey by becoming an employee-owned company. Twelve months on, we’re proud to reflect on what that decision has meant for our people, our clients and our future.

Reflecting on a year of empowerment and growth

Castlet’s transition to employee ownership marked a significant milestone in the company’s 50-year legacy. Through this transition, we aimed to empower our people, strengthen our future, and secure our legacy as engineering experts in ESP power, aerospace systems and high-power industrial automation.

Being employee-owned has enabled us to be more open and transparent with our whole team about company finances, projects, challenges and opportunities.

We have done this by introducing a quarterly full team meeting, where myself and the EOT Directors, Ian Melton and Andrea Plumpton, share financial information and relevant updates with the team.

This has strengthened our team as they have been entrusted with valuable business insights and information. Collectively, it also ensures our team is on the same page with regards to upcoming projects and shares our future vision for the company.

We also introduced a four-day working week in 2025, which has helped our team to gain a stronger work-life balance. This gives them the time to prioritise other commitments and hobbies outside of the office, whilst increasing productivity and client support during the working week.

Strengthening our relationships

While the company ownership has changed, Castlet still runs as a business the way it has in the past, delivering exceptional engineering solutions for industrial and aerospace clients – some of which have been with us for nearly half a century.

The transition has strengthened relationships within our team, with a higher level of transparency created between employees in all positions – irrespective of position or experience.

Importantly, becoming employee-owned has meant that junior team members have been able to share in the company’s successes more. As the next generation of engineering talent, it is important for Castlet to ensure junior colleagues have a direct stake in the company’s future. It also encourages innovation and new ideas, keeping us a forward-thinking and client-focused organisation.

Andrea Plumpton, Team Leader and EOT Director, commented on this: “It’s been fantastic to see everyone share in the company’s successes over the last year – especially more junior team members who didn’t previously have that opportunity. While our ownership has changed, the business is more successful than ever, and people really value the added transparency.”

Looking to the future

With the first year of employee ownership complete, we look forward to building on these strong foundations in 2026 and beyond.

This year, we are evaluating other opportunities to support and give back to our colleagues and the local community, including charity fundraising and volunteering for local organisations.
