Castlet on the Acquisition Trail

January 2006

To advance its position in the rapidly expanding Chinese and far eastern markets, Castlet has recently acquired a 5,000m2 manufacturing and engineering facility in the Minhang district of Shanghai. Formerly known as Shanghai Resistor Company, the company was purchased by Castlet from the state-owned Shanghai Electric Group. Shanghai Resistor Factory Ltd, as it is now known, designs and manufactures a range of Electrostatic Precipitiator Power Supplies, similar to Castlet’s own core products.

Shanghai Resistor was one of the first companies to manufacture ESP Power Supplies in China, and has been a leading supplier to the pollution control industry for the past 30 years, with many references in the Steel, Cement and Power Generation sectors.

Castlet is in the process of sharing its UK state-of-the-art technology and world-wide applications knowledge with Shanghai Resistor in order to expand on its existing market in China, and is confident of a good return on the investment.

Many difficult plants in China have emission levels substantially above the legal limit; this is due to the relatively limited technology currently available within China. With the benefit of Castlet’s advanced Research and Development, its engineering capabilities, and its experience in dealing with these significant problems, the teaming up of Shanghai Resistor and Castlet is seen as a major boost for both China and Castlet.
