ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR
Electrostatic Precipitators are used to collect solid particulate matter from the exhaust gases emitted by industrial processes such as coal-fired power generation, steel and cement manufacturing, and waste incineration. They are also used in a similar manner in chemical and wet processes.
Castlet has designed and manufactured high voltage power supplies and controls for all styles and types of Electrostatic Precipitators since the company was formed in 1974. As an independent company, Castlet has world wide experience supplying such blue-chip companies as Mitsubishi, Sumitomo and Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea Cottrell, Elwo, Lurgi, Lodge Sturtevant, Hamon, Walther and Rothemuhle; to name but a few.
Some 80% of Castlet’s production is exported worldwide, and the company has thereby amassed extensive process knowledge concerning - for example - the use of precipitators in the collection of ash from difficult fuels, such as South African and Australian coal.
The world-leading, state-of-the-art, Castlet MCS II Automatic Voltage Controller, was developed successfully to exploit this process knowledge, and to date there are several thousand MCS II units in the field. The MCS II is a further advancement on its predecessor, the MCS I, which won the Queens Award for Technological Achievement in 1989, and of which some 5,000 MCSI installations have been made.
Castlet has developed sophisticated control algorithms, such as Regupulse, for the limitation, and in many cases, eradication of Back Ionisation, a phenomenon well known to both ESP designers and operators. Castlet also provides intelligent energy management and rapping co-ordination (tumble hammer and MIGI types) together with the associated electrical control systems.
The Company’s ability to offer these equipments in complete turnkey solutions for new plant, or as retrofits for the modernisation of existing plant, ensures that Castlet remains the world leading manufacturer of ESP HV power supplies and controls.
